About The Event

The UWA Discipline of Anthropology and Sociology, and the UWA Africa Research & Engagement Centre, invites you to a public lecture by our distinguished visitor, Dr. John Gai Yoh. Dr. Yoh is a leading scholar on the history and politics of South Sudan, and East Africa more broadly. Having received his PhD in International Politics from the University of South Africa (UNISA), he has gone on to publish extensively in both academic and media outlets. Dr. Yoh has also had a highly distinguished career in public office. He was formerly South Sudan’s Minister of Education, Science and Technology, and is the current Special Advisor on Education to President Salva Kiir. He was also South Sudan’s first Ambassador to Turkey, and the first Head of its Southern Africa Liaison Office, in Pretoria.
