About The Event

Racism has been one of the most destructive influences on science and society  over the last 200 years. While racism as a dominant political force was  largely abolished after WWII, scientific myths about human difference  live on today in disturbing ways. This event is a public lecture by  Angela Saini and a subsequent panel discussion on the topic of ‘The  Legacy of Race Science’. Angela Saini is an award-winning science  journalist, author, and broadcaster. Her latest book, Superior. The  Return of Race Science, was published last year and has become an  international bestseller, receiving a substantial number of prizes.

The  event will comprise of a 30 minute lecture and a panel discussion with  experts from UWA: Muhammad Dan Suleiman (UWA African Research &  Engagement Centre), Len Collard (School of Indigenous Studies), Farida  Fozda (Anthropology and Sociology) and Debra Judge (Human Biology &  Anatomy). The panel will be moderated by Martin Porr (Archaeology).
